VinFast expands electric vehicle access with the launch of its green vehicle rental programme across Indonesia and the Philippines, accelerating low-emissions transport in Southeast Asia.
TRANSITIONING TO EVs
VinFast has announced the expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) access model for ride-hailing and transport service drivers in Indonesia and the Philippines, introducing a rental option designed to accelerate EV adoption and reduce carbon emissions across the region.
The programme makes it easier for drivers to transition from internal combustion engine vehicles to EVs, supporting the shift towards low-emissions transport whilst reinforcing VinFast’s commitment to advancing sustainable mobility in Southeast Asia.
VinFast offers both purchase and rental options for its Green product lineup, including models such as Herio Green and Limo Green, enabling drivers and businesses to choose flexible solutions aligned with their operational needs and financial capacity.
By lowering barriers to entry, the initiative aims to expand the use of EVs in high-frequency transport services, where emissions reduction can have the greatest impact.
DUAL ACCESS MODEL
Under the new programme, customers can rent vehicles from VinFast’s Green lineup through its authorised dealership network in the Philippines and Indonesia, as well as offering the traditional purchase route.
Launched amid ongoing global fuel price volatility, the initiative provides service drivers with access to cost-effective and energy-efficient EVs with low upfront costs. This enables drivers to begin earning quickly whilst contributing to reduced fuel consumption and lower carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions.
Under the rental model, drivers can start operations with a low upfront deposit, long-term contracts, and competitive fixed daily rates starting from IDR312,500 in Indonesia and PHP1,000 in the Philippines.
For drivers choosing the ownership route, VinFast offers financing solutions tailored for commercial use, structured to minimise initial payments whilst aligning repayment schedules with drivers’ income streams. This supports improved cash flow whilst encouraging longer-term adoption of EVs as a sustainable alternative to traditional vehicles.
VinFast’s dual access model – rental and ownership – is designed to provide greater flexibility, enabling transport operators to scale EV adoption in line with their financial capacity whilst supporting broader emissions reduction goals.
PURPOSE-BUILT GREEN MODELS
The programme is centred on VinFast’s Green vehicle lineup, purpose-built for high-frequency transport services.
Models such as Herio Green and Limo Green are engineered for durability and energy efficiency, helping reduce overall environmental impact whilst maintaining comfort for daily operations. Their optimised total cost of ownership further supports the transition to cleaner transport solutions.
The rollout will begin in key metropolitan areas, including Greater Jakarta (Indonesia) and Metro Manila (Philippines), with plans for gradual expansion across both markets, supporting urban centres where reducing transport-related emissions is increasingly critical.
BROADER EV ECOSYSTEM
In addition, commercial customers benefit from VinFast’s broader EV ecosystem in Southeast Asia, including free charging at V-Green stations. This not only lowers operating costs but also strengthens the environmental advantages of EV adoption by enabling cleaner, more efficient energy use.
Trang Duong, Deputy CEO of Global Automotive Sales at VinFast, commented: “Expanding access to EVs in Indonesia and the Philippines represents VinFast’s next logical step in advancing the green transition of the commercial transport sector, which plays a critical role in achieving sustainable development goals.
“This initiative not only provides drivers with a stable source of income but also contributes to improved quality of life and lower emissions. It underscores VinFast’s commitment to supporting driver communities as they transition towards more sustainable livelihoods.”
Vingroup JSC, VinFast’s parent company, is rolling out additional initiatives to support the green transition, including its Trade Gas for Electric programme, which offers incentives of up to three percent of vehicle value on top of existing promotions, as well as a 10 percent discount on Green SM’s electric ride fares in Indonesia throughout April 2026.
Through these coordinated efforts, VinFast is helping to drive the transition towards cleaner mobility, delivering both environmental benefits and long-term economic value to drivers and communities across Southeast Asia.
